New to me 07 Justa was missing the battery lid/cover from the right side windshield cowl....can I buy just the lid alone or do I have to buy the entire right side windshield cowl to get it? OR does anyone have an extra (not sure why you would ) they would part with? TIA

 

The lid is attached to the plastic cowl cover with a crappy flexible hinge - NA separately. Mine is broken off & held on with some black duct tape.

 

Junk yard?

 

Black Gorilla tape makes a very good hinge.

This is one of those bad design things that is so frustrating. The battery cover door on our 2010 MCS hardtop had separated recently, also. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem before I saw this thread.

We are the second owners and it was an immaculate car with 33k when we got it almost 2 years ago. It has 44k on it now.

I put it on the Battery Tender when I know it is not going to be driven much or when it is really cold in the winter since our garage is not heated.

Our dealer is about an hour and 15 minutes away. I forgot to have my wife ask them if they'd be willing to do anything about it when she had it in, recently. But I am thinking it would just happen again. I guess I'll be going the Gorilla Tape route, too, for now, or using one of the forum vendors to get a new one.

 

On my '08 the cover on the other side of the cowl, the one that hides the brake master cylinder, has broken off too.

Black duct tape to the rescue for both covers for me!

 

Both mine were broke off when I purchased the 2012 Coupe last January. I think I am going to try some of these to repair it.


If that doesn't get it, Black Gorilla Tape to the rescue.

 

I've fixed mine like this.

 

I planned on using something like that on the open/close end. Don't happen remember where you got those plastic pieces do you. I will be looking for some and have no idea what they are called.

Thanks! I found them on Amazon. They range in price of 2 for about $8 to 100 for $18.

I will check at Lowes/Menards today and see what they have.

 

Interesting, In the UK for battery cover is a separate piece.

Why couldn't MINI have made the clips that are on the scuttle, that hold the battery cover closed stronger. I've snapped two sets so far.
