OK folks. My MCS is ready for new shoes. I don't feel that I can afford (not meaning financially) to run 17's or 18's as much as I'd like to due to the condition of the roads we have around here. So, what would be my best investment for a set of tires. I plan on doing a rear swaybar and some new shock,s but again, I can't afford to lower for thee same reasons.

How about some advise? Thanks

Tires, like cars, are lousy investments. They also, like cars, embody a whole lot of engineering compromises. You have to figure out what you are looking for, and search accordingly.

Things that various tires offer:
- Lateral grip (cornering)
- Longitudinal grip (accelerating/braking)
- Quiet ride
- Long lasting
- Soft ride
- Low rolling resistance (for fuel economy)
- Low cost
- Reputable manufacturer

Most things get traded against the rest of the list in varying proportions. For instance, a car with tons of lateral grip will not tend to be very long lasting. Lots of things are affected by other factors; for instance the ride comfort tends to be better with taller tires on shorter rims than with "black rubber bands" on huge rims.

Figure out what you are looking for, and check accordingly.
