Is the JB+ safe?

Hello again guys,

NOOB Question, I was just wondering how safe the JB+ plug and play tune from Berger Tuning is for my 2012 Mini Cooper S (R56) when I already have an Injen cold air intake and aFe Machflow catback exhaust on it. Thanks!

I love my JB+ on my 2011 MCS. I have the older adjustable unit, set to 70%. My only intake mod is a Pipercross air filter in the stock airbox. My only exhaust mod is a resonator delete. I also have the ALTA stiffy blowoff spring installed. 25k miles after the JB+ install, still happily Motoring. (I am currently at almost 53k.) The increase in power is quite noticeable, even when it was set to 50%. I recently had to take my JB+ off for a visit to the dealer because of misfiring. They replaced all 4 coil packs, friction wheel, and water pump pulley under my aftermarket warranty. When I got it back, I was surprised by the lack of power. Then, I re-installed my JB+, and was back to tearing it up again! I say it is safe, and well worth the purchase price. If you stay with a reasonable setting, and run 91 octane or better, you should have no issues. Also, run good oil in the engine, and keep track of the level. Stay up on oil and filter changes. Every 5k or less, I do my own oil changes with Mobil 1 European Formula 0w40 and Genuine MINI filters.

I installed a Scangauge2 about 2 weeks ago, and so far, have seen a max boost of 17.2. I don't recall what the stock boost numbers are supposed to be.

Thank you so much for the feedback! But do you think that the misfiring may have been caused by the tune?

I love mine, I also run 93 Octane. Mine is an OG model, set at 50%.

No CELs or Misfires here.

Did any of you guys have to change the spark plugs too? I read somewhere that it was smart to change the plugs when getting a new tune.

MADMINI908....sorry for the late reply, was out of town for the last day or 2. I replaced my plugs 10 days after I installed the JB+. Just for maintenance. When she went to the dealer for the misfire issues (at about 48k), they said the plugs looked fine, and reinstalled them, only replacing the coil packs.
