Heater blower fan diagnostics

I have recently completed engine repair work on a non running project purchase 2007 R56 Mini Cooper (base) for my 17 year old daughter. Now it is on the road & driving more problems are surfacing, one of which is that the heater blower fan is not working. The car has the automatic climate control system.

From web research I understand the diagnostic / replacement sequence should be;

- Fuse# 46, 30A (ours is good)
- Blower final drive resistor (part# 64113422662)
- Blower motor assy (part# 64113422644)
- IHKA electronic control module

Given the cost of these components, is progressive trial replacement the only option ? Surely there must be a diagnostic test procedure for the resistor & the blower fan before just throwing more money at it ? (Bentley manual no help at all in this regard )

And suggestions greatly appreciated,

Thnx

Still having issues? So the fan is just not blowing heat or it's not blowing at all? Here is some info in this NAM thread here about no heat. See if it's similar to your situation.

The heater fan is not blowing at all no matter what the auto climate control is set to or the fan speed control when manually overridden.

Yes, I've read that thread, plus I've used the search function for heater fan / blower, etc and not found any info on HVAC system or component diagnostics, hence my post.

I have a resistor on it's way, but I think it's probably the fan.

Thanks for the reply, after 1,420 views I'd figured I was on my own

You're welcome. I'm with you in thinking the fan may be your issue here, but be sure to update once you get the resistor and let us know what happens. Good luck!

Yes we have talked about it here, not there is a auto and non auto climate fan. Its either one or the other , if its the resistor most of the time its one setting that fails.
