R56 Mpg :)
Mpg :)
So to make a positive post to the forum.....Loving my mpg. I just went past half a tank and have 287 miles on the trip meter. I'm really loving going almost 3 weeks in between fill ups with "spirited" driving. I know if i went with pretty much any other turbo car it would be a different story.
Nice! I get lucky if I get that on a full tank for my daily commuter.

I just sold my jeep and i still have a z71 silverado. It actually gets decent mileage. Our 2015 Forester has been a huge disappointment. We sometimes see as low as 13mpg with it. Oh well. at least its a lease. they will be getting that one back.
13mph?! Is it an XT? Something's not right. For city driving on my STi I get better than that and mine is fully built.

that cant be right, that is audi r8 mpg.
I calculated a few tanks after we had it a few months. I was seeing 13-15mpg. I took it to the dealer. They drove it down a stretch of highway, saw 26mpg on the computer and told us nothing was wrong. Then dented my brand new car. Can't wait til the lease is up. Its not the turbo. I heard they are pretty bad. its a regular 2.5 with the cvt trans. We traded in a 6 passenger kia sorento that got better mileage. I should have kept it. Honestly the best new car i ever owned.

YEAH! I've noticed that the second half of my tank always goes a lot more quickly than the first half. I didn't know if I was crazy or if this was truly happening.
Yep, ours does that also. Takes a long time for the first carrot light to go out..
its becuase the mini holds 13 gallons of gas and the meter only tells 10 so the first few gallond are more compact(tell 2 gallons instead of 1 like the lower than the lower ones). Cheers
I would get 17mpg in NYC on my non-turbo legacy and could get somewhere close to 30 might on the highway. My sister's 14 328i only gets 19-20 mpgs. I recently moved to NC, Charlotte area, and just bought my 6 speed MCS, no matter how hard I drive with the AC on all the time I get nothing less than 30mpg. Engine mods include intake, catback exhaust and bov so you know for a fact that the acoustics of those mods "force" me to drive hard.

The Mini is driven 95% in city driving and with my wife it is averaging 33mpg, it's her primary transportation. With me driving it is just over 30. On the few trips we have taken with it 35mpg highway is about normal.
I have a 2013 Fusion SE with the 1.6L EcoBoost and it is driven 95% on the highway and will average between 33-37 MPG depending on quality of fuel and interstate speeds. In town it drops to 28 unless I get aggressive with it.
With the Mini and the Fusion having about the same size engine and both putting out about the same HP the fuel mileage is close even though the Fusion weighs about 600 pounds more. The smile factor is higher in the Mini but the comfort level on trips is where the Ford does better.

Fuel gauge accuracy was not good with my 2011 MCS R56 after I bought it used. Took it in to MINI under my remaining factory warranty, and they ended up replacing both fuel level sensors. Apparently, there are two in the tank, as it is shaped to fit over the exhaust, and there are two deep points and a sensor in each. Much more accurate now. The onboard MPG reading is a bit more "optimistic" than the actual fuel consumption, as I have found by manually calculating the MPG's. Still, not bad for a 6-speed turbo sports-car driven "spiritedly". I average about 26.7 on my hilly, twisty daily commute from 3800 ft down to 1100 ft, then back again. Freeway trips net about 37-38 MPG on mostly level roads, 65-75 MPH, and being "gentle" on the loud-pedal.
I use torque pro with the OBDLink and only run brand name 93 octane is that counts for anything
I'm used to it. My motorcycle has a 7 gallon tank and actually has a gauge. its way off...so much so that they make a kit for it that you plug in to make it read correctly. I think its a resistor or something like that. Either way i'm going 2-3 weeks between fill ups right now. I can go about a week in my truck on the same $30 and thats with trips back and forth to work only. I've been all over the place in my car the last few weeks.
29.5 according to my scan gauge, averaged over the 3 years I have had it.
250 miles of commuting back roads a week, and I almost never hit a highway.
I have found my mileage varies more depending on weather and fuel quality more than anything.
As far as the gas gauge...
I ran out of gas once with 35 miles to go showing on display. Once I had the display at -35 and she still ran, and only took about 12 gallons at fill up. The other day I ran the gas down, and the display would no longer go negative. I think that may have changed at one of my last services, where they did a bunch of coding at the dealership.
Funniest thing, at fill up the display 9 times out of ten says in have 420 miles to go ;-) does that mean my baby is on the pot?

There's a thread called the "500 Mile Club" that I frequent. My best tank was 632.5 miles, averaging almost 50 mpg...but it was driving from the Mackinac Bridge to Copper Harbor and back to the Mackinac Bridge (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) where the speed limit is 55 mph the whole way. But, if I don't drive too crazy it's pretty easy for me to squeeze 500 miles on a tank. Also, mine's not an S, which gives me a little mpg advantage.
Absolutely love my 08 plain old hard top! I run only non ethanol normally 91 octane. I've put 52,000 plus on it in the past few years and get 34 city/ 40 on the highway doing the math. Computer is a bit optimistic and two carrots off on the gauge. Love this ride!
