Regarding the service countdown message that displays on the tach just after starting the car; does the dealership typically go by the mileage or the date? My GP is currently showing "10/15, 1100 miles", so I'm in the date window but at the rate I drive the car it will probably be sometime early next year before I get another 1100 miles in...

Basic question, I know, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. I'm in veterinary school right now, so unfortunately free time for wasted trips to the dealership and/or extra money to pay for a non-covered service check-up are not luxuries I currently enjoy.

 

It is based on either mileage or 12 months whichever comes first. I couldn't meet the mileage milestone either, and my dealer would do the oil change based on the calendar.

 

call the dealer ... they'll tell you the answer ..... no secret

I just had my first oil change at 12 months with 2,800 miles. No charge.
