Seat Replacement

My wife just bought a used 2013 Cooper S. She wanted leather seats but it came with cloth so I'd like to replace them with leather if possible. I was thinking about looking for salvaged seats. Will seats from other models (Clubman, etc) fit or are they all different?

Thanks!

You will find that your cost will quite even finding a good local automotive upholstery shop to replace the cloth with leather. This route you get to keep your seat, new leather with quality and color of your choice. I had this done in my Nissan truck.

Its not that big of job if you are handy, but yes, disconnect battery and unbolt, re bolt. The seats a little heavy on the front and just watch on taking them out trough the door so you don't ding anything. I cut my hands on the seat rails before. So watch that.

Good luck.

Check out Katzkin.

As low as $1500 for front and rear and it's better leather than OE.

Many dealers, and CarMax, use Katzkin to update cloth seats to leather.

They are not covers. Katzkin installers take your seats apart and reupholster therm in leather.

If you have heated seats, the cloth heats up much quicker and hotter than leather! Quite an advantage in winter.

If you check on ebay you can find leather seats from a Mini and in some cases people just sell the leather covers. That way you don't have to pay to ship the heavy seats. I purchased a set of seat covers from a roadster even though mine is a clubman, The owner had his seats recovered in all leather. The seats covers I bought from him were leather and cloth sport seats. ( My car had the normal non s seats) I had a upholsterer remove the covers that came on my mini and put the leather/cloth ones on them. It is pretty straight forward for them. I took the seats out of my Mini ( first disconnected both battery terminals) , then removed the 4 bolts holding the seats in and then disconnected the air bag connectors and took the seat over to him. While he was doing this I had him install the lumbar supports which I had purchased. All Mini seat frames are the same except for Convertiable and Countryman. The difference is the seat covers.
