yellow engine light solid

background - wife drove the car until nearly empty (20 miles to empty) (maybe or maybe not related to the rest of this discussion). yellow engine light came on. Ultra gauge shows no codes and no codes pending. Hooked up my ELM327 OBD2 and it showed 2 logged codes p1497 and p2188 that clicking on clear codes via torque app didnt clear. side note, the codes dont show in logged codes when car isnt running, only when it is. no codes pending. not even sure the codes are current or historical. On my ultra gauge, the MA2 g/s shows 0.0

I went and bought mass air sensor cleaner. after cleaning and reinstalling, I know have a normal reading on my ultra gauge. But, the solid yellow check engine light is still on. Will it reset on its own?

Any info, ideas, suggestions?

Historical or old codes can keep the check engine light lit even though the original cause is long gone.

I changed the cylinder head on our R55 S after we burned an exhaust valve. With it all back together, the computer still had to let me know that there had been some cylinder misfires...3 months ago.

Took the car to a mechanic friend with a scan tool. Cleared the codes, NOW the car is ok. Just needed someone to tell the computer everything was alright.

Thanks Steve J. I too am Steve J. So a mechanics scan tool has the ability to clear the code where the app Torque (with clear code function) and an OBD2 reader cant?
