R56 Cam Timing Tools - All the Same?
Cam Timing Tools - All the Same?
You can buy one of these on ebay for ~$65-100 or spend $300 at the MINI aftermarket retailers. Does anyone have experience with any of the cheaper ones? I've definitely seen the quality difference on a pulley puller in the past, so if the ebay specials are literally just not at all possible, lay it on me.
Does anyone have one to loan out?
Thanks!

Since there are really cheap ones out there and really expensive ones, I opted for a middle priced one. Probably all the same stuff with the exception of the OEM factory tools. For a poor shade tree mechanic they are fine.
I bought a set from an eBay retailer with a decent reputation. I wanted to pay by credit card, so the seller directed me to his supplier that drop ships them for him. It turned out to be Baum Tools. I had purchased from them in the past and have been getting their catalogs and mailers for a decade or so. I don't know why I didn't think of them first.

Some do more than just the N14 motor and are therefore cheaper than the ones that do a few other types. I bought a middle of the road one and it seemed to do the job just fine.
If you can find someone to loan you one then even better.
