R56 accessport maps
Song & dance --- couple years ago, a dealer upgraded my ECU software from H520B to H810B. Same ECU just different software. All I needed to do was get my custom SW re-named to the new #. Easily done when AP was still in use by tuners.
I'm guessing the number you have, GB02B is an ECU number, not a software number. You should be able to use the AccessPort Manager computer program to determine what software number series you need. I hope this program is still available. Maybe not being updated, but still available. It's pretty handy for maintaining AP logs, files, etc.
Have you plugged your AP into your computer yet?

Did you actually try installing the tune? One of the first things that the AP does is back up your existing tune. If the tune is not compatible with your ECU revision, then you can uninstall it.
Have you tried calling Alta?

"Tyler,
Sorry to hear about the tune. We had limited tunes available for the automatic, so if you have a rare ECU, we may have only made just a few tunes for your car. I’d recommend uninstalling the AP from your car, then running an update using the AP Manager. You can download the AccessPORT Manager here: http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/s...ssport-manager
Once you run the update it’ll install the latest firmware, which might include some new maps. Then try reinstalling the AP to see if there are more maps available. The maps will only show up when you plug the AP into your car. If there is just a normal stage 1 map, you’ll want to install that.
If there is only the FMIC map available still, then we wouldn’t have another map available, sorry about that. On some rare ECUs, we only made maps for what an individual customer that had the ECU needed. If you have any more questions, let me know, thanks!"
I followed his instructions and sadly yielded the same problem I was having before.

The way that I see it, there are 4 options:
1. Wait and see if anyone has a map for your ECU.
2. Call the dealer and see what they would charge to update your ECU. Supposedly the later updates included a torque steer reduction. Confirm which revision they would update to.
3. Cut your losses and use a different tuner.
4. I would also try running the FMIC map to see if they shift well. Unless you drive the car very hard for long periods, it should be OK to test. Then you can decide if it is worth picking up a FMIC and keeping the AP, or going to a different tune.

Yeah I plugged it in, and used the Accessport Manager to update the AP to the latest firmware. How would I go about renaming the software(map)? Would that cause any problems with my ECU? Like I said I got some maps from someone but it was a different ECU, so if I could do this it would be extremely helpful.
I just checked my AP map at the OBD connector, looking for the map prefix (H810B). It wasn't shown. The only place I can find this prefix is on the AP Manager, searching for maps. It would be helpful if you would verify your ECU map prefix for us (me). Ignore any that are greyed out on the AP, they are obviously not compatible. EDIT: Sometimes I can't do anything right --- the map ID will show on the AP, I just didn't read far enough. Select the "TUNE" screen and look at the current map. It should be part of the description.
Finally, if you don't intend to go "all out" with upgrades, I strongly suggest you forget about the AP and go with one of the other popular tuners. Especially if you have a unique ECU. Finding maps to convert can be a pain --- as you're discovering. To go "all out", Ziptie can tune it for you. Might be a really long drive to get there, but it will be worth it.

Renaming a map requires an AP tuner software program --- the only way I know of to modify / edit an ECU map. Mine was done via email, and all it took was to change the 5 character map ID prefix. The only AP tuner I know of is Ziptie Dynowerks, located just outside Salt Lake City. I worked with Ryan for my last dyno tune, but others there may be familiar with the Mini AP SW. Contact info is on their website.

So I'm reviving this thread because I just installed my new, bigger FMIC and I'm still having the exact same problem as before. When I run the stage 1 FMIC 92 oct, my car goes up to 5000 rpms just fine and then it jerks hard, loses all power and then regains it until it shifts into the next gear. Then it does that in every gear. I got the AP used, so it wasn't nearly as expensive as new, but I'd like to use things that I spend money on. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tyler

I'm sorry I'm fairly new to all this tuning software stuff.....what is a WOT data log? Is it just a compilation of all the data logged? Is there a special way I should do this? Thanks for bearing with my lack of knowledge...

Data logs
Hi everyone,
I know its been a while since I started this thread, but I have yet to find a solution to my problem. I've been busy lately, but I managed to log some data! Attached are two logs. Log 51 is a 0-whatever pull with the stage 1 FMIC map flashed, with a lot of idling at a stop light
and Log 52 is a 0-50-ish pull with the stock map flashed.
Thanks,
Tyler
