Hell All,
Wondering if Antenna makes a reception Difference with your Radio/Satellite. My Mini (2008 Cooper S with built-in NAV and a radio/Satellite came with a worn-out antenna, I mean it was only about two inches in length, so I replaced it with one from the dealer, believe I got the original one. Is it possible I don't I get reception on my satellite radio from the antenna? I started a free 3 months subscription with Sirius but I do not get anything, how do I even know if I have Satellite Radio?? All I know is on the sticker price that was in the glove compartment it says a package of Satellite radio costing $1000.00 plus one year of life time subscription with Sirius...so I assumed I have Satellite radio...Appreciate any comments/feedbacks please...Thank you

 

A couple of things.


The whip antenna is for RADIO. FM and AM. The sat antenna is in the base where the whip screws on.


If you look at the function of the radio, is will list what's available. Radio, CD, Aux/Ipod, and or Sat or Sirius . If it's not showing SAT, then you don't have it.


Or, you can all a MINI dealer and ask nicely and see if they will look up what your car is supposed to have. But ALL MINIs are equipped to have sat radio. Meaning the antenna and wiring are there.


I didn't get SAT, because I think the programming is crap, but that's just me...

 

Thank you...Appreciate the feed-back...actually when I look at the functions I do see the sat and when I click on it.. it takes me to 184 channels minus channel 1 and they are all checked, however when I click on any of the channels I get nothing...blank screen with (what looks like a return sign that when I click on it...it takes me back to previous screen) hope I am explaining it correctly. Is that what am suppose to get...No music...nothing...I am now wondering it could be an issue with the Antenna base.
