R56 decoking manually
I just picked up a 2012 MINI Cooper S and it has a fantastic service record. The one thing I don't see is if it has had any decarbon treatments. It has 41,600 on the clock and the first thing I did was put in a BG44 gas treatment.
I have read that BG shops can do a chemical treatment to treat carbon buildup. Is this effective? I believe a local BG shop lists the treatment as $105.00.
How often do folks put in the BG44?
Thanks

The chemical treatments are a waste of money, well that's what the Regional Manager of BG products told me when I asked about the chemical treatments. However I used the BG 44K every other month, it keeps carbon buildup in the combustion chambers to a minimum. the walnut she'll treatment is the most effective way of cleaning the valves and intake runners.
I learn as I go and the best that suits my driving condition is I do a Seafoam treatment right before I change the oil. After the oil change I chase it with BG 44K together with an air filter service. I change my oil every 10K... since I drive 95% freeway driving each day.
I do a bottle of Techron gas treatment every 3K miles for the injector's upkeep.
