Torque and a faulty HPFP

Is Torque able to spot a faulty High Pressure Fuel Pump? If so, how?

I'm not sure. But if it can read fuel pump pressure and fuel rail pressure then yes. (fuel pump supplies pressure to the HPFP, fuel rail is what the injector has.)

But it was pretty obvious that the HPFP was going bad in my car. Cold start misfire, rough running engine dies... My car did it about 3 times than I took it in and MINI fixed it. MINI covered all but $70 since I was way out of warranty. Fair deal imo...

(Yeah, MINI of Baltimore...)

This is the classic symptom, folks. If this is happening to you, get the car scanned. If you have multiple misfires, you need a HPFP. If you've got game like richardsperry, you might be able to convince your MINI dealership to 'goodwill' the fix, otherwise, save your shekels and come to a shop like Helix for the fix.

Actually the part is less than $200, and it's not that hard to install. All in I think the bill should be less than $400...

It actually in the part I paid, they charged me for a 1/2 hour labor to remove and reinstall the JCW strut bar... (seriously a 1/2 hour for the strut bar...) They claimed aftermarket part... Otherwise MINI would have covered the entire cost, so I really didn't make a deal out of it.

Yup, same symptoms as I had in 2008. Had to push the start button twice first start of the day. Once it got going it ran fine. Eventually it wouldn't start, just sputtered for 15 seconds and died. Because it's a known problem some dealers will cover it out of warranty.
