yes I have rainsensor windshield wipers and multifunction controls on steering wheel. I was told by Pelican Parts just yesterday that mine uses that same #. 61319253769.

But i was in hurry before and i did not ask about rain sensor. That part number is for vehicle with DSC and without Rain Sensor.
For vehicle with Rain Sensor the part number in production is 61319253770

You were right Erjon. Pelican Parts just rechecked and gave me the same # as you did. 61319253770. They had it wrong the first time.

You are the most righteous.

You guys know if AE can be used to CODE the new SZL?

It went though a recognition process after I installed the new SZL but then I couldnt figure out how to calibrate the steering angle.

AE's BMW extension states that you must be in LIVE DATA mode to "actuate" anything but I never saw an option for "actuation" while in any of the live data screens.

After I installed the new SZL I got this in the diagnostic trouble code screen:

Did you find an answer to this question? I'm adding cruise to my Mini and require a new SZL. I'm wondering if I'll be able to reprogram the steering angle??

Yes it can calibrate angle but cannot program a new szl. I confirmed this with Autoenginuity.

You must program the SZL first in order to be able to calibrate the steering angle. Car doesnt recognize the new SZL until its programmed to the car.

Bring it a BMW shop and have them program the SZL. At that point they will calibrate the the steering for you since its a tiny additional step.

They charged me ~$100. Im sure it took them 15 minutes.

Lex,

Thanks for the quick reply! A follow-up question...

I am just learning about the SZL now, seems like there's a ton of variables and they're not really written down anywhere. My car is a 6-speed that had no MFSW but I've since added it. It had the wiring harness and I was optimistic that it work with just the coding. I reprogrammed the SZL and KOMBI module in NCS but the car currently does NOT recognize either function. I read some other topics that discussed updated the Vehicle Order but I don't know how to do that or if anything else might be required in NCS to get this thing working.... Really hoping to find something that might get it working WITHOUT a new SZL?

I'm 90% certain I need to replace the SZL. I'm trying to find a used one. Does the SZL have to be programmed to the car even if it was previously on another car? Really did not want to have to go to the dealer...
