Auxilliary Water Pump Failed Again?

Recently purchased a 2007 MCS with 128k miles.

I was driving today and smelled an electrical smell in the cabin. Turned on recirculate and the smell went away. After stopping the car, I popped the hood and took a sniff around. In addition to the electrical smell, I also caught a whif of anti-freeze. I've noticed no leaks whatsoever.

Going online, I read about the recall on the aux water pump and think 'bingo!'. I called Mini to arrange to have it replaced, but they said it had been accomplished already in 2012.

Has anyone else had this problem? I mean the part is very cheap (I already ordered a replacement) and seems fairly easy to replace, but a 2-year lifecycle does not seem up to par.

I'll be watching this thread, since my 2010 MCS had that part replaced in 2012.

Sometimes we can smell the problem before we can see it. Follow your nose.

Just keep checking with a good light and looking for residue and drips.

Possible you got one of the old designs. Right before the parts update and recall revision. Can you see a part number on it ? Newest is 11537630368. Have not heard of one of the new ones having a problem.

Older part was 11537619360 .
