R56 2007 Sunroof Saga part 2
2007 Sunroof Saga part 2
In an earlier thread I voiced my displeasure about this garbage car, less reliable than a Hyundai Pony.
Sunroof won't close all the way on one side.
Cartridge was replaced in March of 2012, so it has been about 2.5 years since and that must be a record in terms of reliability.
I took off the glass, from what I see, one track (passenger side) works fine but will not close and the other (driver side) is just stuck. It won't move at all.
Took out the motor and the gear is a bit chewed. This leads me to believe the worm gear setup is seized somewhere, must be the mild weather, or maybe a butterfly got too close to it.
I haven't removed the headliner yet, I did order the repair manual which hopefully shows a diagram for the shoddy setup.
Anyone have suggestions on this? The motor/gear makes a popping type sound when closing o opening, obviously jumping on the worm screw that is not budging.
