Common R56 fasteners

I'd like to compile a list of the most common fastener sizes & types in the R56 MINIs so I can put together a minimalist road kit. So far, I've got
  • 11mm socket (used in various places under the hood)
  • Torx T25 & T30 (ditto)
  • 36mm (1-1/16″, for the oil filter cap)
  • 28mm socket (wheel lugs)
  • 14mm thin wall socket (spark plugs)
  • 9mm (brake bleeders; probably not needed in a road kit).
What am I missing?

EDIT: This list is the corrected and expanded list:
  • 11mm socket (used in various places under the hood)
  • Torx T25 & T30 (ditto)
  • 27mm (1-1/16″, for the oil filter cap & timing chain tensioner)
  • 17mm socket (wheel lugs)
  • 14mm thin wall socket (spark plugs)
  • 11mm offset (brake bleeders; probably not needed in a road kit)
  • 8mm socket
  • 10mm socket

So they are. So the revised list is:
  • 11mm socket (used in various places under the hood)
  • Torx T25 & T30 (ditto)
  • 36mm (1-1/16″, for the oil filter cap)
  • 17mm socket (wheel lugs)
  • 14mm thin wall socket (spark plugs)
  • 9mm (brake bleeders; probably not needed in a road kit)

The oil filter is a 27mm.
The brake bleeders on the normal, non JCW calipers are 11mm.

Also, on the R56 there wasn't much under the hood that was 11mm, you could darn near take the whole engine bay apart with a 10mm.

I would say if you want a road kit, go to Sears and buy one of their mechanic tool sets, that would be a great start, then just add in a couple little odds and ends. If you really wanted to get zesty, buy an electric impact, makes changing tires on the side of a freeway a bit less painful..

The most important thing I would say to keep on hand with an R56 is oil, and a spare tire.

Already do.

I'm almost due for plugs. The hex socket isn't 14mm, that's the plug thread size, right?

8mm and 10mm are used throughout the enginebay and under the MINI. They're so common, I got Snap-On magnetic versions of them for touch-to-reach places.

14mm 12 point socket is what you'll need to do the plugs.

Try this: ECS Tuning Extended 5/8" spark plug socket

Apply anti-seize lubricant to the plug threads before inserting, and grease the boots with a thin coating of dielectric grease before putting the coils back on. Both available in small inexpensive packets at the auto supply store; don't buy a whole can.

Use a torque wrench to tighten to about 17 lb. ft. or whatever the plug manufacturer recommends.

Think you mean this 14mm thin wall 12 point. This is for R56+ Gen 2 MINIs.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES2561145/

and this is for the Gen 2 R56+ oil filter housing socket:
27mm, 6-Point Socket, 1/2" Drive

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES240947/

And these for the lugs, protect the wheel also from scrathces,. You will use the 17mm , comes with two other common size for other makes then MINI. 19mm, and 21mm.

Thanks

the timing chain tensioner uses a 27mm socket as well, the same one that the oil filter housing does. i just saw a thread last week where some guy said his tensioner backed out...

In a pinch a Lowes 12 pt 14mm socket will work
