If I had no need for a backseat, I would have bought the GP instead of my JCW.

At least one guy on the board added a back seat to his GP. It pretty much all bolts right in

For what it's worth I wouldn't make it such a quick pick.

Categories what you really are looking into the car. If you feel you are more oriented towards comfort, tech, with a good mpg than the F56 is probably a better car.

If on the other hand you feel you're not the type that needs that latest tech and can live happy as long as you get that sporty feel while driving no matter how much gas you'll burn than the GP is probably a happier choice.

It may perform in power but in handling, the GP2 takes it. Test drove both f56 models and it didn't have the go kart feeling anymore. I was bummed:-(.

Handling can be altered When I switched to a R56 from the R53 I felt the same way. The go kart was gone . But then I got my hotchkis RSB and it came back!

It's going to take more than a rear sway bar to get the F56 to feel like a go-kart--much more. Steering is lighter, suspension is softer, it's not a go-kart on wheels anymore.

GP2 will retain its value and "plateau" very quickly and gain value after that. The F56 is ugly anyway!!!!

Let me put it this way (and from europe).

I'm from a mini lover family, we've had most of them... My first was an r52 MCSC, Loved it and sold it for dumb reasons after two years, did a short stint as a couple with a R56 but that ended badly and I left the car.

I recently decided I wanted one again and as it turns out, the current girlfriend ordered an F56 S auto in febuary and just got it delivered.

10 days ago, I rented a car for a 1200 km round trip and got offered the cooper F56 so I took it and was very very disapointed by the car even though it was full options.
last week end, I drove the girlfriend's F56, hoping for a great mini and ready to order one if I liked it. The trip included city (geneva), highway and back roads and mountain roads (and she lets me drive as I please).

As we got home, I got on a second hand car website and bought this friday an R57... She loves her mini because it feels big, safe, comfortable, high tech, ... and I'll never tell her I hated it for exactly thoses reasons. I told her I wanted a convertible so I'd buy this one and wait to see the new one.

She drove the R57 when I picked it up and she did not enjoy it soo much for the reasons I love it already (its been 48 hours).

I went for a 2009 for the price and equipment (not that many choices) and I'll cross my fingers for the F56 JCW and maybe convertible but if they stay on this track, I'll buy the latest R57 I can find and live it out.

In your case I'd say GP2 or JCW but I'd stay clear of the F56 if you want a fun car.

Hi Scourtaud, and Welcome!

Geneva....love that city. I was there on business last year....I am a watch and Victorinox Swiss Army knife fanatic, so I was obviously in heaven....I must have stayed in the Victorinox store for 2 hours or so. Brought 10 of them back home, all engraved. The old town area of Geneva is breathtaking.

I did a lot of window shopping for watches and was so close to bringing home a Breitling Navitimer 01. Just couldn't let go of that much cash for the watch...they are truly engineering artwork for your wrist.

Over the weekend there, we went up to Zermott and saw the Matterhorn-WOW.....beautiful city and country you have there

I'm not the type of person that hates on the new body style, just because I have the old one. I really like the look and feel of the GP, maybe my feelings will change when they release the JCW version. Also, the new F56's several quirks and software bugs that need to be addressed, typical of a first year car.
Get the GP and you won't have any regrets.
I know that dealership lot
