R56 Rear bumper squeak
Rear bumper squeak
I've suffered through an annoying squeak coming from the rear driver side for over two years now. It occurs only when I'm driving and mostly at low speeds. It occurs even when I'm driving on smooth pavement, but very seldom when I'm going over dips and bumps. Strangely, it occurs only in the winter when it's cold and moist outside. Jouncing the Mini up and down does not reproduce the squeak.
I've asked the dealership to check it out several times, but they keep blaming it on my modified suspension. I'm confident it's not the coilovers because if they are to blame, then wouldn't the noise occur all the time?

If anyone else has dealt with this problem and have pictures, proper nomenclature or part numbers, kindly share them, please. I want to be armed with better info. the next time I visit the dealership.

1. Polyurethane bushings anywhere in the suspension (sway bars, strut mounts, etc). These tend to get squeaky in freezing temps. Solution: re-lube ore replace.
2. Rear hatch rubber bump stops. If they are not adjusted just right, the rear hatch will start rattling and/or squeaking.
