2007 mini Cooper coolant leak

So my 2007 mini Cooper has been leaking fluid the heater works fine so I don't think it's the pump but all the hoses are dry and the fluid never gets below the minimum mark but the fluid collects under the shifters on the transmission any help would be great

That's when you know its the thermostat housing leaking ( its the unit with multiple ports and the sensor on top ) when it collects on the transmission bell housing near the shifter mechanism. Then eventually drips overflows and drips down the back of the transmission.

See this thread for all that you need : there is even a DIY linked right under the post for the unit. See post #7.

Thanks

Thank you for the fast response I got the housing changed it was a relatively simple job it looks like the plastic heated up and expanded but it looks like the leak has ceased

You are welcome , so you changed the thermostat housing already and bleed the sir from the system ? When you replace it make sure is flush against the head with the seal. And also wipe any residue off when you take off the old thermostat housing. They way it seals up good.

Thanks
