R56 N18 CEL/Throttle Problem.

Hi guy,
I hope anyone can help me about about my 2011 R56 throttle problem. Whenever I floor it the car will jerk, go to engine malfuntion mode, and CEL come on. Shut off the car and start it again then it will run fine but CEL is still on. It start up fine, no rough idling. The only problem is I can not go wide open throttle. It is 2011 MCS, manual, has about 60K, and no mods. Hope you can help, thank you.

Not much to go on here. Have you had the code read by a OBDII scanner? The error messages from the OBC via the turn signal button are not very helpful.

It sounds as if the car is going into limp mode because of what the ECU is detecting. This can be a lot of things, but as an example if you are having boost problems on your turbo this will trigger on WOT and put the car in limp mode and throw the code.

That type of code will clear itself under right driving behaviors and cycles. Then it comes back when you hit WOT.

If you are under warranty, take it in and let them sort it out. But you need to find out what code you are throwing to diagnose this. Most auto parts stores will scan your codes for free.

It took me 2 years to response but the problem I had was non interchangeable spark plugs. I gave the autoparts store my car year make and model, and they came back with Denso plugs. Turn out the N18 only uses Beru brand.

Correct, Beru is the OEM supplier spark plug for your MCS 12-12-2-293-697. Some good information about plugs in the basic guide to spark plugs here.
