Help with warning chime

While driving the yesterday, the warning chime starts ringing. No warning lights come on, and the car was running fine (seat belts were on, too). Pulled over and checked both doors and hatch, to make sure they were closed all the way, and nothing was sticking out - like a strap from a bag or something. Chimes continued.
Brought it home and turned the engine off, and the chimes continued - even with the key out of the ignition! Immediately called the dealer, and they said to bring it in.
Chimes continued for the 30 mile drive to the dealer, and continued when I turned the ignition off. Unfortunatly, after a 20 minute wait for the service rep to get to me, the chime had stopped! they of course couldn't isolate the issue since it wasn't doing it any more!
Drove home, and the chime has not turned on again.
Any idea what caused this? Anything I need to check? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Poltergeists, obviously. But, to offer my experience, these chimes had a symbol attached to them, and in my case it was the rear hatch "open". Which was false, of course, the battery was dying. You have the original 2007 battery? It is done.

Original battery. Checked both doors and hatch. Made sure they were all closed tight when I pulled over. Like Jordan said, hasn't happened again - yet. No warning lights came on with the chime. Hate to change the battery just for the heck of it, but if that's what it takes....

If it is the battery you won't have to wait long for other "weird" events like that chime happening.
