R56 Driving Light Brackets

I recently purchased Hella FF200 lights for my MINI but, the brackets seem to be giving me some trouble.

I have looked at Outmotoring, MINIMania etc and have only found a couple of sets... $125 seems a bit steep for 2 brackets (and I have been finding discrepancies with fitment for non "S" models..... I would probably spend it if I could find them in Chrome but the only ones I have found are in black.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Open to buying used or even fabrication ideas.

Car is a 2013 Hardtop (Base) and I would like to mount them in the upper grill.

Thanks.

The factory brackets come with the grille and lower trim strip dependent on your options. You can see the mounts . They have a center end mount to them to hold the OEM light housing. You would have to modify (take the bottom section of the hinge bracket off ) or drill holes to hold the hellas as they have a different post.

#2 is the grille set w/ holder for light housing , holes in grille for OEM brackets, the brackets are not available separately.

Here is the one light housing "In Chrome" to compare. R56+

There are several grille options and packages , you can PM me the last 7 digits of your Vin and if you know the type grille or trim package you have.

Thanks

I made my own mounts out of 1/8" mild steel (see my gallery). They mount directly to the backside of the grill and seem very secure, i.e. no noticeable shaking or rattling after 2yrs. It took an hour or so working with a heavy bench vise to get the curve on the backside of the mounts to mate with the grill. They're held in place with 2 stainless bolts that go straight thru the grill.

Murphy and his law strike again

Well, my wife was checking out my posts and bought me the parts that were listed.........Awesome girl! I put the brackets on (I knew I would have to modify the ends due to the Hella FF200 having a different mount) but........ the really don't protrude from the grill enough to mount the FF200s to.... anyone have any suggestions?

Anyone have an actual pic of the modded bracket end?

The 4th pic in my gallery shows the end of my bracket as it protrudes from the grill. It sticks out approximately 1.4". I am using Wipac lights so the light mount may be slightly different than your Hellas. Try making a template out of cardboard or 1/8" hardboard to determine how much projection you need. Then you can make an add on projection of 1/8" steel to piggyback on top of the brackets you have and attach them by welding or pop rivets.

Did you look at/try the VIP Custom brackets? They fit my Hellas fine.
