DDM RIS with heat shield?

Can anyone confirm that a heatshield on the turbo (not the one on the hood) Will fit with the addition of a DDM RIS system.

And if its even needed/good idea.

I'm assuming this is an intake system that uses the hood scoop to get air? If so, IF an aftermarket heat shield will fit, USE IT. Or get a quality turbo blanket for the hot side of the turbo. The hot side of a turbocharger works more efficiently/better with hotter air and the cold side of the engine/turbo(intake side) you want the air to be as dense as possible and colder air is denser. So keeping all the heat in the turbo and out of the intake is what you want.

So, yes, it's a great idea if you have an intake cowl over top of the turbo, to put a heat barrier between them.

Yes, it has that ram scoop that directs the air to the intake. I know the hood turbo shield must be removed to allow the ram to fit . My question was more, is it worth getting a aftermarket turbo shield, because the ram is already there? I was unsure if it was acing as one. And if so which fit with it.

The big "ram air" box that attaches to the air box to direct air from the scoop is NOT a shield in itself. Heck, it might even retain or transfer heat. It blocks direct heat, but it could heat up over time with the car running, and really just not doing anything to keep intake temps down. I would personally suggest the turbo blanket. It will keep all the hot air inside the hot side of the turbo(good for performance) and away from the intake(good for performance). And it goes UNDER the factory heat shield so it wouldn't get in the way of anything.

Turbo heat blanket is the best way to go I'd say. That's been my only complaint with the DDM RIS, in traffic on a hot day my intake temps can get as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit. It's pretty dumb...I've loved it while I've had it on but am now seriously considering switching to the DoS (to have the filter in the firewall) or a custom cai to place the filter at the front of the engine bay right where the stock intake port is. Having the filter in a metal box at the back of the engine bay is not workin out for me

Kali, before the(ridiculously over priced on all of them IMO), big expense of yet another aftermarket intake, I'd give the blanket a shot. Actually, regardless of what intake you use, I would. Keep that heat in the hot side and out of the engine bay. See what your temps are like after a turbo blanket, a good quality one might make the ram air intake something you want to keep as a good quality turbo blanket will work amazingly.

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking that's next on the list. I do love that the DDM makes the scoop into a functional ram air (despite the fact that yes, I know "ram air" by definition doesn't exist with a turbocharged car) so I'd love to keep it. Just got to get a hold of one of those GT Spec strut bars as well. Everybody's been out of them and from what I hear no other strut bar fits.

I have the DDM RIS, the GT Spec strut bar and the M7 turbo heat shield. Great combo!!!! No complaints at all...nice intake temps even in NYC traffic.
