knocking sound

So I am noticing a Knocking at idle on my 07MCS. The knocking stops when I push in the clutch or when i give it gas but when it is at a complete idle i get the knock. I have taken it to a local mini shop and they told me it was not the death rattle and that it was normal. I know these engines make a ticking sound because of the direct injection and that is not what im hearing. Its a knocking sound at the top of the motor? Can anyone tell me what this is or if it is in fact normal?

Could be the dual-mass flywheel... Makes me think that's what it is since it changes with clutch engagement.

There have been a few threads the past few days on this.

Or it could be the HPFP... Since you said on top of the engine.

I'm a little bit of a noob when it comes to this, but is it the timing chain issue others are having?

Since the knock is related to him pushing in the clutch I highly doubt it is related to the timing chain issues.
