Warranty expired. Can i buy warranty now?

Bought my MCS 2009 brand new. My 3 year warranty expired and I never thought about buying any extended warranty till now.

Am I still able to buy any MINI warranty now? If so, which company is best for coverage? I live in Southern California, if it matters at all.

Thanks

My warranty is about to expire on my '11 MCS (48.5k on the odo) and I recently bought an aftermarket warranty after shopping and comparing the Mini extended warranty to aftermarket companies'. I ended up going with Warranty Direct. Their coverage is a pretty close match to the manufacturer's warranty for about $1k less.

Yes, you can still buy a warranty for it. I was told the price jumps some if the warranty has expired before you buy the extended warranty by both Mini and aftermarket companies. Warranty Direct requires that at least 30 days and 1000 miles are put on the car after you buy the extended warranty before you can make a claim on it - their way of not having to pay for big repairs if someone is trying to sneak in under the wire with a car that has exisiting major problems.

Just to clarify... the warranty is 4 years/50K miles. Free maintenance is covered for 3 years/36K miles.

How much did you pay for Warranty Direct?

I went with Mercury Insurance for my extended warranty and have used it once when I threw a valve seat. $2600 to fix it which just about covers the cost of the insurance...and I still have years to go and lots of miles!

If you're a Costco member, you might check with them for some very competitive rates.

My question is how do these aftermarket warranty companies cover third party parts? Will their policies cover my care as-is and replace the parts I have installed? I sent an email to Warranty Direct and have yet to get an answer.
