I have done some reading about various intercooler options for the R56. What I haven’t seen and may just be missing is quantitative data that proves that the “good ones” (Helix / Forge) are significantly better than the “crappy ones” or design rip-offs (Ebay / Aliexpress). I may have just missed a good post (mew here) but I’m wondering if we have more data than just some truisms about “getting what you pay for”. Even though I generally agree with that concept, I think it's worth asking if anyone has done tests on several of these FMICs to compare actual performance. I ask because there are those who have installed the off-brand parts and seem very happy with them.

If I missed an obvious post in my searching, I’ll take my verbal chastisement and carry on.

You aren't missing an obvious post....atleast not one with answers to your questions.

But there is/are posts about this and nobody ever provides any valuable hard data about the cheaper intercoolers. It's always just visual observations about the units and estimated performances.

 

Okay good to know. Thanks for the reply. The cheaper you can get a part, the more of them you can buy. Unless the cheaper parts don't perform as advertised; then you're wasting money and limiting potential.
