R56 HK speaker issues
HK speaker issues
I've had my 2010 MCS for about two weeks now. Noticed crackling coming for the front driver side speaker. It only happens when it is at a certain volume.
I have h/k sound.
I thought it was the radio reception but I don't think so.
Does any know what it could be?
And is it covered by the warranty?
Thanks in advance.

Probably a rattle in the door. Google bink audio test cd. Burn and run through the tones to find the track with the offending frequency. Then tell your dealer that track. I had to do this a few times. The dealer fixed it each time under warranty. Having the test cd was the only way I could get them to hear the nasty rattles that sounded like blown speakers.
This happened on my '11 MCS. The dealer added some felt tape on the joints between the dash and A pillars. I still noticed occasional rattles and found they came from the doors. The side "map" pockets in the doors are separate pieces from the door plastic and this caused a crackling or rattle at certain frequencies. I solved it by pulling on the pocket and putting a couple small pieces of felt on the seem between the two parts. This may make more sense if you look at the door.
