Turbo Inquiries

I was on Out Motoring today and found that they offer a different turbo brand with different dimensions. The company is JM Turbo Cooper. I asked Out Motoring some info about them. I was told they can be swapped directly so the install is fairly easy. My question was: Has anyone bought one of these? If so are they worth the money/ a good buy. I was looking for something like Alta's turbo but it seems there is no lead time on when Alta will have those in stock, if ever. Here is the link: http://www.outmotoring.com/uprated-turbo.html

I don't want a massive HP figure. Obviously tuning is involved, but I was looking for a turbo that spools pretty quickly but will put out about 290-310 lbft of torque. Acceleration out of slow corners is what I'm after.

Boy this is strange to see from Out Motoring. These guys are typically middle men for other vendors. I'd stay away unless you see Dyno numbers and tuning information. If you're after 300 ft-lbs of torque you can go ahead and add a good LSD or you'll be burning up your tires out of the corners. New clutch would be mandatory too. Youd be the first with big torque like that. Looks like they are taking quite a bit of profit for that 45mm kit.

I bet you could get your turbo rebuilt and do practically the same thing if you went to GPop turbo for quite less.

And once again... HANG IN THERE PISTONS!!!

It would appear they are just re-manufactured K03's

You can send your factory turbo out and do the same thing for nearly half of what they want.

And FWIW, you can find factory JCW turbo's for the same price that they want. I got mine for $1400 if I recall

For what it looks like you can get the same work done by Gpopshop for half the price.

Well I know with a FMIC, CAI, exhaust, and the Alta Turbo and a stage 4 map on the Access Port Alta was able to produce about 300 lbft of torque on the dyno. Has anyone had success with the Garrett Turbo? What kind of numbers could I get from a JCW turbo? I have a JCW engine, but not the JCW turbo. I have an Alta CAI and a 2.5" straight pipe with dual tips (no 2nd cat, resonator or muffler) so a decent tune/map should go a long way (provided I get a proper FMIC). I have actually ordered the OS Giken Clutch a flywheel package, but I'm also curious about the package Madness Motors (http://www.madnessmotorworks.com/min...n-package.aspx) offers, even though it's kind of too late at this point.
