the DTM thing has been lingering in my head for a long time
I'd never b4 stumbled on the German linkage (Google can fail you)
once pointed that direction tho I also found this OLD post (author was in Russia posting to an Audi site so)...:
This kind of tips are called DTM in Eu as well. DTM was first to implement this kind of tips. So when first customer started to ask for this kind tips, they were asking "do you have exhaust with tips like in DTM", so producers and sellers started to advertise them like DTM style tips. It is same like when you read on Forum "I have TT dead pedal" and you know on what design person was reffering.

DTM is not like NASCAR or V8 STAR series. DTM is competition of "real" cars. If you see Audi TT- it is Audi TT with engine from Audi TT inside of it. NASCAR and V8STAR(EU copy of NASCAR,started 2-3 years ago) are diff. system.Same platform and same engine for all competitors, shell (body) is just faking different car producers.This is made to equilize all competitors as much as possible.
So for that I'll say thanks Bram and might even be willing to let you take OC for a lil spin sometime - under adult supervision of course; it is the best explanation of where the term DTM exhaust DTM exhaust came from I've found in a multi-year search.
So DTM allowed this style tips on a race series that tried to hold the line on 'real cars' .... next level to dig into
or in the base spirit of TQM .... I'm asking WHY 5 times and I'm only down two . .
And I've wiped the lipstick off my cheek . . . we'll not go to bed mad.
