Hey Gang,
According to my MINI SA, my clutch is 60-70% gone (judging by the difficulty in pressing the clutch pedal, and it is getting "notchy" when shifting into all gears).
MINI quotes the job (with twin mass flywheel...worse case scenario) for ~$3800.00.
I may be just cheap, but, that seems rather high to me.
Anyway, can anyone recommend an independent shop in the Santa Clara, CA area where I can get a second quote?
Also, can anyone recommend an aftermarket clutch and flywheel that I can use instead-of OEM? I do not race my car...it is just my daily commuter.

$3800 is very high.

Clutch job on these cars is fairly easy. I've done it myself on my 07 MCS. I don't think you should pay more than $800 for clutch, pressure plate, and to bearing. Obviously more if you want to replace the flywheel, but I'm pretty sure those can get resurfaced.
