R56 OBDII code says N/A
OBDII code says N/A
The check engine light came on in my 2009 Mini Cooper S. I hooked up my Autel MaxiScan OBDII and CAN Compliant reader and it detects a trouble code. The problem is that when I try to see what the trouble code actually is it says: NA where to code should be.
I have never run across this before and am hoping someone here might be able to give me some insight.
Please help.

That would really suck, since I bought that scanner because it says it shows vehicle specific codes as well.
Are you getting a fault code NUMBER, and not the DESCRIPTION?
If so, you can easily cross-reference the fault code number against the service manual.
If you're not even able to read the fault code numbers at all, the scanner you bought cannot read the specific MINI-protocol.
Look into a Bavarian Technic scan-tool that reads the ECU, and all the specific modules installed on the car (ABS, Airbags, Central Convenience, etc).

As far as the Bavarian Technic scanner, it looks like I am out of luck there too. It says that it needs a windows based computer to run and I am a Mac user.
Generic OBDII scanners are typically a waste on Euro-vehicles as they have limited functionality.

You can install Windows on a Mac using BootCamp to dual boot
