Bummer man, sorry to see such a nice ride do to a bone yard. Hopefully it provides parts to the next guy who need them and you get a check to make you whole again.

Sorry to hear it was totalled, but i have seen a few mini's that all were totalled when the hood/motor was hit, and the bumper was ok....when 90% of the dammage is mechanical, and 10% cosmetic, imo it is good it was totalled. Cosmetic stuff is fixable, but the mechanical stuff and rear its ugly head YEARS in the future and leave you stranded. Sounds like the ins company made a good choice.
Good luck, and enjoy car shopping....and keep your eyes on the road!!

Healing vibes sent your way and prayers for easy dealings with the insurance company. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.

Thank you guys very much for the kind words. I was able to grab some stuff off my mini today, which is probably the last time I will ever see it. I got all the carbon fiber pieces (handles, antenna cover, gas cap, symbol covers) The green mirror caps and green side scuttles.

I was able to take the JCW strut bar as well. Things I could not take - Alta intake. I was able to get the filter, but the intake mount and tubes were destroyed. I wasn't able to take my H&R springs or Alta rear sway bar. I will miss this car for sure....so much so that I am debating very heavily about getting another Mini.

I am debating getting a JCW cooper or coupe! We will see what happens

Thanks again for the extremely kind words! I have had a rough 2012 so it's nice to read.

Really a shame you couldn't get the springs or the RSB. Would have made a nice addition on someone's MINI and I doubt that they're damaged at all.

Go for another MINI, man! I can't imagine not having one.

That's a stunning piece of machinery.
Congrats Mr Sharpie. I am truly glad it worked out for you and most important that you were not injured! Now, take care in that JCW!

About 25 years ago I was in a 9 car pile up where I was the 8th car. There was no reaction time for me when the car in front of me just stopped. This happened because a car in the left lane of a 2 lane highway made an illegal left turn and came to a stop. The sad thing is the car that did the illegal turn got away scott free without getting hit, and the car that hit me from behind left the scene.
That year I was saving money and did not have collision on my truck which was my work truck. Costly lesson since the repairs were out of pocket.
I feel your pain, but glad the car was totaled and what a beautiful new car you have!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all very much for the kind words! I am so excited about my new coupe! The strut bar fit right onto it so at least I was able to keep one part of my old car and put it in the new one. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise or something along those lines! As I said earlier I had a terrible 2012, so it's nice to end on a positive note

t-bear I understand your situation completely, sometimes, its just impossible to react, even if you are following at a safe distance. By the time I reacted it was too late. But everyone is okay and I have an awesome car again. I am not sure how it will effect my insurance premiums until my policy renews in May though. I hope it isn't too crazy of an increase.

Am I the only one here who read the first part of your name as "CRAP"? I'm glad it's going the way of the PB&J- seems to be getting some people excited.

Another good reason to keep scanning around. If you're alert, you can see the cruiser (or worse) before you swerve.

Fortunately for us, cars with ABS are still controllable when you are braking and swerving--even though they don't stop as short as cars that are just braking in a straight line.

Thanks for the compliments. I love the coupe its so fun and almost every time I park someone has something great to say about it!

The green mirror caps and green union jack side scuttles were sold to a member on here! He has them on his black clubman and they look great!
