I have it installed behind most of the interior panels/door cards. Makes it extremely quiet...Highly recommended.

If I ever upgrade the stereo, I'll add some Dynomat while in there.

it's good stuff - does what it says it will do - I have it in some places on my 79

expensive tho, and heavy if that matters to you, and it STICKS - be sure you have it where you want it when you put it down cuz you ain't gonna move it!

there are knockoffs that also get good reviews at lower cost

check out Eastwood - eastwood.com (altho their site appears to be down right now)

beware the lowest cost options tho cuz sometimes those DON'T stick . . .

I took another poster's advice and installed it in the rear wheel wells (under the splash shields) and it made a big difference on the highway. I've always been a big fan, I even put some on my dishwasher when I installed it.

Hot damn, the dishwasher idea is a good one. I'm about to be getting a new dishwasher and with my living open to the kitchen, that is a great idea. Never would've thought about that.

PS - I'm in Fort Worth. I'll be at Cars & Coffee next month. Yellow JCW. You should come out. Sometimes there's a handful of MINI's, sometimes none.

They do C&C up there too? Figured Houston was only spot, but guess not! It's just up the street from me now, yet I never make it to one. Haha... Too damn early for us.

I found and used GTmat. sticks great, easy to cut, easy to apply, works nice, and not heavy like dynamat. not expensive either!

I left one of those giant dog bed pillows in the back of my car the other day. Next time I drove, I was wondering why my car was so quiet, then I remembered the pillow. Needless to say, I haven't taken the pillow out. Dynamat might take up less space though.

Sounds good, I've never been to C & C I'll try to make it.

The quilted moving blankets work too. I've doubled one up in the rear hatch of the coupe to help with exhaust drone.

Yep. Huge turnout too, at least when I've been; which, admittedly is only a few times a year. Last time I went I didn't see any other MINI's.

You'll need mass load vinyl backed with closed cell foam to really make it super quiet. I used cld tiles (same stuff as dynomat) in places and it really didn't do much. You need to use a lot but it only cuts out vibration noise.

If you Google sound deadening showdown you'll find a very helpful site. Or get in touch with Integral Audio, they're super helpful guys.

Cheers

Update on my install. First off I removed the rear seat for good, I built a really cool panel that fits in where the rear seat was and covered it with some black fleece. looks stock. but when i drove the car it was quite a bit louder than with the rear seat. I installed a bunch of Dynamat panels on the sheet metal under where the lower seat was, a bunch under the back rear area by the tire changing kit and a bunch on the rear hatch. A test drive showed it helped quite a bit, but i still think I am getting a bunch of air/road noise and I think it is coming thru the rear wheel well areas. I like the dog pillow and shipping blanket idea, I think i will go for a drive with a shipping blanket covering the side well area and see if that helps.

Hit me up next month. I go to C&C every month in Houston. I've seen a few Mini's but never parked next to them. Let me know and we can all park together.
