so i was planning to get the BSH oil catch can and read on the threads that it is a good idea to get the direct duel boost tap to go with it. i get that it blocks of the pcv valve but what is it's main function. im having a hard time understanding it as i am a newbie to mini coopers.

 

It essentially recirculates everything going int the PVC thru the catch can

 

yeah i got that part but it also says it can be used with a boost gauge and other stuff. thats the part i dont get?

 

Just like it says its a boost tap as well. Its got a nipple to allow you to run a line to a boost gauge and it blocks off one side of the system so that all gasses flow through the catch can.



Here it is on a car. See that small part that is threaded? That is a plug to block where the nipple goes for the boost tap.

 

thanks onefish2 thats explains a lot! now how does a boost gage run off of a pcv line?

 

I am not a car engineer. All I know is that I have that same setup like you see in the pics above and my VEI hi-res bi directional (boost/vacuum) gauge works.
