too much wastgate free play? adjustable?

I recently had to change the oil return line on the turbo and doing so you need to remove the downpipe. I noticed that the wastegate valve inside the turbo had alot of free play but needed to put the car together so i could go to work. Using my scan gauge i noticed im only running a max of 9.1 psi of boost compared to 14psi. Is that wastegate adjustable? if not whats the fix for it?

Typically a wastegate isn't adjustable; and I can't see the actuator rod just all of a sudden loosening up.
Check with other owners locally to see if the same.

The actuator rod securing nuts, are prone to coming loose, so to stop this from occurring, you may want to add additional nuts, to aid in securing the original nuts in place, and you'll also note I have included the setting measurement for the correct pre load for the actuator, this is important, and must not be altered, away from this setting, in order to try and gain, extra boost holding capabilities, as it will cause you boost issues! see image below.

The adjustment will set the, "flap on the inside (exhaust side)" as you call it, with the correct opening and closing amount of travel, as needed to attain correct spring/vacuum pull from the actuator, just set your turbo actuator rod length, as per my image, and you will have set it correctly, and you can be happy and forget about it.

I personally have never had a problem, with the actuator rod nuts coming loose, so have never had to re-adjust with the turbo in situ, you will however find it possible, but it maybe a struggle, you may find it easier, to remove your down pipe too!

Lol ok thanks. I just did the oil line on the top of the turbo and still have two heat shields off so it will be a simple thing to take the down pipe off
