*ATP turbo kit*

What are everyone's thoughts on the ATP turbo kit for $1700. What size injectors would be needed and could the stock motor/clutch withstand 300whp? Thank you.

Oh boy, where would you like me start ? I think you need to do a search, there are many threads on this very subject, and if you want my advice, save your money and spend it on either the JCW turbo and exhaust manifold, or have your existing stock MCS turbo re-worked (hybrid) and don't run anything more than 17-18.5 psi absolute on stock internals, and even at this moderate boost pressure level, you may experience the loss of a piston or two! And your re-map (tune) for such power, must be absolutely spot on, or you will suffer a catastrophic failure.

And unless you've got Big $$$ forgot 300hp as you wont achieve it!

What kind of WHP numbers can a stock turbo Mini put down with TBE, tune and intake?

Go to www.altaperformance.com and they have a lot of dyno charts for their products.

save the money. Slapping on a bigger turbo will just be problematic. The MCS has a higher compression than the JCW engine so it can't handle as much boost.

If you have that kind of money buy: Dos or JCW Stage I intake (most gains of an intake), Front mount intercooler, high flow downpipe and a tune. Those are you biggest bang for buck upgrades and will start you off well.

It'll take a lot more than a Garrett to get your 300HP. I'm up to 282 and I'm scared stiff to add any more (but I probably will anyhow). There's just too many older threads about the engines bottom end not holding up to this kind of power.

Also had lots of grief with ATP Turbo. Just recently found an oil leak at the turbo oil return hose - rubbing against the exhaust manifold adaptor. Haven't fixed it yet, so don't know exact source of oil. If you have the time, check out my attached "journal", it's a running history of my upgrades. Still a work-in-progress. I'd suggest working with Jeff Perrin at Alta for boost improvements, he's given me some new ideas for safely increasing boost / HP.

I have lots of respect for Czar's opinions and input, and someday he'll jump all over me with a well deserved "I told you so"! But one upgrade to consider is Water / Meth Injection (WMI). This is supposed to help clean combustion chambers, which helps minimize piston failure, while increasing HP.

Lots of upgrades out there. None of them cheap! Good Luck.
