screeching sound while driving

Hi All,
I notice the same screech sound coming from my mini whenever car is cruising,it goes on and off (the sound is something like scratching on metal) .

ANyone knows what is this sound about and if it is related to worn out suspension?

Many thanks

Could you be more specific on the location, duration, and specifics of the noise?
Because your description is so vague it is nearly impossible to assist.

Does this happen at all when you apply the brakes? Have you ever had a brake job? What year and how many miles on your Cooper?

It's a common side effect of motoring (for the driver that is).
