R56 Check Engine Light Woes
Check Engine Light Woes
Hi all,
I've been getting a p115c cel now for about 2 weeks. It goes out now and then but always returns. My reading through the forums led me to believe it was a dirty maf sensor. I tried cleaning it and when that didn't solve it, I ordered a new one from rockauto for 200$. Dropped the new one in today and it didn't resolve the light. I tried clearing the cel after replacing the maf and it won't clear, even temporarily. This problem is occurring on a 2009 Cooper S. The only mod I've done is an oil catch can. I still use the stock airbox and filter. Before I take the car in and get raped by the dealer, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

That looks like a MINI specific code which can only be read by a dealer or one with the MINI codes. Some folks could make an educated guess, but it would be just that, a guess. What did you clean the sensor with ?
When it comes to things like this I ask myself.....Do I want to just keep throwing money at this problem with the "$hotgun method" of replacing all sorts of parts ? Or, just fork that ill spent cash to someone with the equipment and know how and be done with it....You've already spent over $200.00 which could have been used at the dealer and well on your way to a diagnosis and some probably $$ towards a new part.
Granted maybe $120.00 an hour labor at a dealer is not cheap but it's almost half what you have spent so far with no results whatsoever.
Your call.

Very true, but the sensor takes literally 10 minutes to replace, and it'll be easy to return. I read that this was a maf sensor code on five different threads from three separate websites so I figured it was a no brainer. Does anyone offer a code reader that specifies what the mini codes actually mean?
* MINI DTC P115C (0x2775) - Mass Air Volume Flow 'A' Too Low
If your filter (assuming paper element) clogged?
Is the intake tube clear of oil film?
Is your catch can empty?
