R56 Some thoughts after 13.5 months of ownership
Some thoughts after 13.5 months of ownership
I have owned over a dozen different types of cars in the last 15 plus years.
My 2010 MC has been the most rewarding thus far (next to my Classic Saab 900 Convertable). Let me share some of my experiences and observations.
1. With closing in on 43,000 miles, I have not experienced more than replacing wiper blades and changing the oil. This vehicle has consistently performed in all types of driving conditions. Even without snow tires, it managed suprisingly well.
2. It has returned a consistent 40 to 44 mpg.
3. It is not ostentatious and in your face type of car, but is noticeably different from others.
4. We can all agree as to the joy of driving one. I will not attempt to describe something you have all felt.
5. Yes there are quite a number of counter logical and awkward features within the cabin. Most annoying to me, are the placement of the window switches (should be in the center console, behind the shifter).
The rear windows could use a switch to allow them to open, so draft can be minimized (having them fold out a bit). It would be nice to see the coolant, oil and voltage indicators. No need to talk about the radio controls.
Sure, I will be facing some issues in the future, but as of now I am very content with this machine.

I'd prefer the window switches near the mirror control, on the armrest. But that's just me...
Anyway, I really like mine too... 2 years, 21K miles... No real issues other than waiting for a new hood scoop...

I think it's really just what you're used to, though. I have seen BMWs and Mercedes with the switches on the console; other cars often have them on the door.
I find the radio controls to be OK, except for the switching between the various inputs and the phone and such. For just listening to the radio, they're fine for me.
That would be one thing that I would change about my MCS. My old 77 Honda Civic, back in the day, and my Porsche 912 have rear windows that vent open like that. Of course, neither the Civic nor the 912 had AC. I guess everyone uses AC so much these days that that is a lost feature on vehicles. That said though, I noticed recently that the extended cab Chevy Silverado's rear windows open and close now and they always used to be fixed windows.
