Dreaded Cam Chain Tensioner
Arrrrrrh! I started my vehicle this morning and it sounded like I had diesel engine transplanted last night while I was asleep! . I have always stayed on top of my oil changes and always keep it full to the top line on my dip stick . I have just over 45,000 miles. This Suxs. I guess there is no way to avoid this from happening .
Does anyone have the Service Bulletin for this? I don't think I will have a problem with Braman fixing it, but I want to be prepared if it is an issue.
Also how can I get them to replace the chain, tensioner and other affiliated parts. I have a feeling they are just going to swap out the tensioner. I am getting close to my warranty being up and would hate to have to deal with this outside warranty!
Thanks AXO

First off you should before posting this read up in the Stock Problems and Issues section where there is a GREAT wealth of info on this exact subject.
Next - Yes this is a very common problem. But as it is not always reproducable. You should take a video of it the next time it happens so that the dealer can see and hear the problem. This should be enough for them to fix you problem.
As for "all" the parts being replaced that is up to MINI. the chain will be tested for length/stretching and if it is with in specs they will not change it. As the car only has 45K on it and this is the first indication of this problem your chain is probably in very good shape and should last a long time if the tensioner is replaced.
