I wish I would have found this thread about three weeks ago...my 09 clubby S had the dreaded red battery light come on intermittently and after a new battery, everything points to the alternator. Mini said that they could not determine which amperage alternator via the VIN and they would need the PN on the old one (4 hr job to remove it, I don't think so). After an hour of fishing around with a borescope I found the label and was shocked to find it was made by Mitsubishi. Mini could not cross reference the part number and like the original posting on this thread they felt that a previous owner had installed and incorrect replacement part.
I also asked if there was any rhyme or reason on why some S models have a 120amp Valeo while others have a 150amp Bosch unit. Quickly found out that blank stares are free.

To play it safe, I'm going with the Valeo 120amp bc the Mitsubishi is also a 120amp.

Thank you for all of your investigative work on this one.

Can't wait to replace the Honda / Hyundai fuel pump :-)
