Door lock question:

We took my wife's MINI in for a regular service and they said it received some software updates, too. (by the way, one of them improved the wandering steering problem) Anyway, for the next week after the dealer the doors would unlock and open with a single pull on the interior handles. We grew to prefer that over the double pull we've always done before. So, after doing some re-setting of various fob functions today, we're back to a double pull opening. How do we get back to the single pull? (don't see this in the manual)

Don't have the car auto lock, then it will only take one pull.

Turn the auto lock of the doors off in the key preferences done with the stalk end. The choices will be time (shows a clock), driving (shows and arrow to indicate movement), both time and arrow to activate it, or Off. It is under the last menu I think, after the key with ruler,...the next one. Going off of memory here. The only thing I don't like about removing auto lock is that at a light or stop sign a person could come to your car and steal you.

What probably happened was as follows.

1. before update car "auto locked" the doors and you had to pull twice to get the door to open. if door was not locked you only pulled once to open

2. after update car was NOT set to "auto lock" and as such the doors did not lock and you only had to pull one time to open

3. after you changed some settings in the computer you reset the car to "auto lock" and now that the doors are locked you need to pull them twice to get the door open

So to get back to one pull opening turn off the "auto lock" feature.
