Turbocharger cover choices

Hi All,

I know this has been covered in various threads but I was hoping to condense all opinions into one thread!!

I recently spoke to the service department at a MINI dealership and we discussed options for stopping the hood scoop from warping.

It basically boils down to two choices:

The heat shield that goes onto the hood

The Aerogel Turbo Shield

Before I made a choice I was hoping to ask you lovely people which ones you suggest and why. The service guy didn't know about the aerogel turbo shield but thought that the heat shield on the hood was a good idea.

Thanks

Only those two? Because there's other options as well including:
* NM Engineering TitaNM heat shield
* WayMotorWorks heat shield (wrap)

I have the OEM hood shield along with the NM Engineering unit, and it keeps the hood scoop cool enough to place your palm on after a hot stop-and-go drive.

Way motor works wrap with the M7 aero gel shield would probably make an insane costly as hell combo lol =]. But would be great performance.

I have the factory carbon fiber scoop with holes in it and have had no warping problems in 27,000 miles. And mine has been so hot the fan has run for 10-15 minutes after shutdown.

I'm at 67k with no shields but the Factory junk one. And I think mine has the slightest warp. Not noticeable though.

This is what I use on my own MINI
http://www.waymotorworks.com/heat-shield-package.html
NM heatshield
hood heatshield
turbo oil line shield

I put it together cause it made the most cost effective package. I've had cars that had 2 or 3 scoops replaced under warranty use this and no longer have warping.

NM Engineering TitaNM heat shield and MiniFini Black Intake Scoop Grill (http://www.minifini.com/ShopDetail.aspx?id=64) keeps my scoop nicely cool even after long hard runs in the Georgia heat.

Thanks guys. As always I knew you lot would come through with the answers!!

I guess my concern is if I go with the regular under hood shield I'm a little worried where all that hot air will get dispersed to. I don't want to damage any of the other stuff in there.
