Have you tried resetting the iPod? Hold down the top button until it says "Slide to power off", then slide to power off and power it on again.

Are both the plugs on the MINI end plugged in? The USB and the audio?

Connections:
iPod - iPod connector
MINI - USB + Audio connectors

When I connect my iPod touch, I can control it using the *****/buttons on the radio head unit, not the steering wheel. Well, I can adjust the volume using the steering wheel control, but all other iPod navigation is via the radio ****, etc.

Bought a 2007 MCS two weeks ago to replace my 2003 MC. One of the things I was excited about (a far second place to the addition of the "S") was using my iPod. I finally got around to trying it and.....nothing. After a couple of tries, I decided to play with the volume - both on the iPod and the car and lo and behold - music! And when I say turned it up, I had the iPod at almost full volume and even at that it was not until I began to turn up the head unit volume that I had sound. Worth a try....

btw - no display on the head unit at all - no playlist, nothing. But I just set it to shuffle and I'm happy. I have not tried steering controls yet - will do that tomorrow

I inadvertently pulled the 3.5mm plug half way out and all I was hearing was the low end of songs, no highs and I was about to bring it back to the dealership till I figured out the problem.
