Have a few tech questions on a 2007 MCS
I'm looking at purchasing a used 2007 and have a few questions I am hoping you all can help me with:
Thanks for any help...
Kevin
- The car does not have the convenience package or a USB connector for an iPhone. There is an aux jack. Is there an easy way to install a USB or iPod compatible cable?
- The car does not have Bluetooth, although I believe there is a button for it on the steering wheel. My dealer says it will cost $700-1200 to install. Is there an easy or less expensive way to hook up Bluetooth capability?
- The car has navigation, which is nice but not crucial to me. What is the general consensus on the nav system... is it still useful even though the technology is 4 years old? Is there a charge for it?

You can of course send the sound to the system thru the aux jack. You can also add the iPOD interface on your own as it can be bought from several vendors and the install instructions are available on line. http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...interface.html but according to this vendor a dealer reprogramming of the computer is required increasing the cost even more... $300+ for the kit alone
Check the audio threads and I believe you'll also find recommendations for third party products

again check the audio forum but I don't believe anyone has found a cost effective way to add the factory BLT on their own. I'm not familiar with third party products. I drive my cars to get AWAY from the phone!

- I believe there is a reason we're seeing the industry move away from dash installed nav systems altho I suspect they will return with some sort of full time connectivity for the entire vehicle allowing access to internet/server (mainframe) based up to date mapping systems. Your nav should work fine the question is how up to date are the maps? There is no charge unless you want to buy new maps. I have a four year old - unsupported TomTom .... we're in the same boat. My TT will still get me where I want to go 95% of the time altho it does not recognize the new entrance/exit to 95 near the house which opened last week - but neither does any online mapping service . . .
