Anybody know what the size of this is? I want a second one so I can tie down my kayak at both ends. Thought I would see if there was one locally at a hardware store before buying one at the dealer.

 

It seems unlikely you'll find a metric thread eye bolt at your local hardware here in the states. The towing eye on my 2010 appears to be a coarse thread 16mm but I don't have any taps or dies large enough to verify the thread pitch. 16mm is probably bigger than you'll find at a hardware store. Take the towing eye with you to the store and try to match it up with their stock. In a pinch you could just use a suitable bolt with a coupe of washers to use as a tie down point. FWIW, Penske wants about $25 for a stock towing eye (ouch!).

I have a couple OEM ones out of wrecks I could sell you, otherwise the Cravenspeed tow hook is pretty nice.
