Kind of all over the place here... just but used mini.

**Edit to title: Just Bought Used Mini**

Hey guys, I bought my used 07 R56 used back in january and have had some time to drive it to find out whats regular and what isn't. Its been modded with Alta Intake, unknown Exhaust, a Perrin (atmostpheric.. i know ) BOV, and possibly chipped. Ok im just gonna make a couple paragraphs to help keep me organized.

How can i tell if my car is chipped? This thing seems crazy fast, yet I don't know of a way to tell if I'm chipped w/o having an access tool.

My BOV is vent to atmospheric - I dont like this- i've heard thats not the way our cars are supposed to run. Every once in a while I will get a poof of blackish (rich) smoke come out the back and will get a slight misfire feeling as this happens. I know WHY this is happening, I just want to know what I should do, go back to stock BOV?

My turbo cuts out - this is a strange one - it will only cut out when i'm really getting on it on the highway, like passing somebody, or going over a mountain pass (high elevation, i'm in Denver). What it does is basically just spools spools spools then it will let out a little "psst" like the BOV is engaging, but then my turbo is gone, hit the throttle... barely any power, and no turbo spool. I'll have to kick it back into auto mode w/o sport on and let it get all the way into 6th gear and feather the throttle a bit to get it spooled back up. usually takes 5-10 seconds, then im off and away again. No CEL's for this. WTF!? LOL

My engine is juuuust a bit "clicky" i can really hear it like if i go through a drive through and i'm right up against the brick wall of the building. It starts fine with no louder clicking or anything... is this my tensioner or just the way it sounds?

Finally - and I posted this in the HPFP thread but i'll mention it here - I don't really have a clean, smooth pull through my power band. like if i'm in 2nd going 30 or so and put it to the floor, it takes off REALLY quickly, but its almost like there is either a misfire here and there, or something, its just not consistent smooth power all the way through, I almost want to call it "jerky" but thats kind of an exaggeration. HPFP problem maybe?

I think thats it for now. I appreciate any info you all can provide. Thanks much!

Did all of this come to your attention during the test drive?
