I bought one of the OEM MINI pieces last week and put it on in about 1 minute. I then noticed that WayMotorWorks sells it for about $10 cheaper than I paid. Ahh well, heres a link:

http://www.waymotorworks.com/mini-co...5-r56-r57.html

I'm still surprised that these cars have no "hood blanket". When I first noticed that, I figured they had just forgotten to put one on mine until I searched the forums. The hood itself gets hot as hell which is annoying.

I went by Way's yesterday to visit El Kabong and while I was there Way was looking over my new '11 just to see the differences. He told me I would probably need a heat shield, so while we chatted about other aspect of my new MINI he put one on. What a huge difference! The heat is cut by 75% at least (anecdotal evidence only).
Worth every penny!

Annette, I assume you went with the one in the link above ur post?

I just installed the new NM adhesive shield and it seems cooler to the touch, but still hot. I thought about getting a shield over the turbo too....but by that point im $250 into it and not far away for just springing for carbon fiber right? The carbon fiber doesnt sag im told.

I've got the one in the link, yes. $26 investment, totally worth it. I'm betting Way will bring a few to the Dragon.

I too have made that investment and seems to work great along with my M7 turbo heatshield. Purchased both after having my 3rd hood scoop replaced.

UPDATE: Well they installed the #5 hood scoop and to my surprise it was the WRONG COLOR again.....GRRRR, however; the service manager was extremely helpful and at the same time upset with the MINI paint shop. So I asked to speak with the BIG COJONES owner of the MINI dealer, He came out and I explained the problem he couldn’t believe this was going to be my #6 hood scoop replacement, then he said well we can paint the entire hood and I told him if they screwed up the hood scoop they will screw up the entire front of the car. then I will have a 2 tone car..... so he asked me how can we fix it? I told him a JCW CF will not sag and doesn’t have to be painted, he said ok why hasn’t that being done? I told him because the service manager brought it up to your attention and YOU declined it. Well to make the rest of the story short I FINALLY got the CF JCW hood scoop......

All the time and money spent replacing and painting hood scoops, they could have saved so much money by giving you the carbon fiber scoop 2 scoops ago. Glad you have the matter resolved with no cost to you.

Looks great! I'm glad to hear your dealer made everything right, even if it took several tries.

Hey does anyone have a CF hood scoop thats more than 2-3 years old and still looks good?
I bought a CF hood for my VW GTI and after about a year and a half it was clouding and faded lookin even though I always had the car washed and waxed regularly. It was actually a siebon hood.

Just picked my car up from the dealer and they replaced my scoop under warranty. everything looked good until I noticed a decent size chip in it, its barley noticeable since you have to bend down to see it. still I was hopping to get a brand new nice scoop with warp and chips in it. really MINI? you guys had to have seen it when putting it on!
