So, wearing a visor is out for me, I think I've heard enough negatives to avoid the sunroof!

I just ran a piece of fishing line behind the tape to remove it from the bumper and then used some goo gone to remove the bit of residue left. I then washed the car and put some wax where I had used the goo gone. Not a prob.

A baseball cap would work as well.

Unless the negatives are coming from owners of a 2011, don't listen. The change in tint really has made a huge difference.

In addition to the amount of light I was (am?) worried about rattles or leaks. Probably most things I read weren't 2011 owners' opinions.
But since I seriously have never taken advantage of current or past sunroofs in my cars it seems kinda stupid to spend the money on that.

I have a 2011, and have not found the need for any visor or hat so far. Granted I haven't been through a summer yet in my MCS. We have had plenty of really sunny days and the tint in the 2011 is plenty dark for me.

I haven't had any noise problem so far w/ the sunroof closed. I can talk on my phone via Bluetooth no problem when closed, at any speed.

I'm surprised how much I've been using the sunroof, since I also never used in any of my previous cars.

OK, maybe it's at 50-50 now!

There's an offer right now for a 3 yr lease with premium pkg included and automatic transmission. I've asked our MA how that works as far as changing the configuration -- if we don't want the prem pkg but do want conveninece pkg, eg. Is it just a matter of changing the #s or is the deal good only for that specific car. Anyway, if she comes back with the prem pkg is included no matter what else you want then we'll do the sunroof because it's in that pkg but if not I don't think I'd pay extra to include it.

Really do appreciate all the opinions and especially hearing about the 2011s having darker tinting.

Hope everything works out the way you want it! I think you will be happy either way with the sunroof. I wouldn't trade mine for anything, but then I love driving with everything open when the weather permits. If you don't care about that, then not much reason to have one.

Personally I hardly ever use the sunroof. The car gets too damn hot in the summer (i should buy a shade, I know.) and I personally don't dig the wind noise when I'm at highway speeds, so it's usually closed. That said, it does make it seem a little less claustrophobic in there (coming from a motorbike it felt weird being in a cage.)

Hey sparky ... I currently drive a 2008 MCS and I have the chrome interior and it is nice but if you need to save money I would. I am buying a new one (just built it last night) and i didnt put it in ... One thing I recommend is that you look and drive a type S .. the Mini is okay but you rather be driving a type S. It is a better drive and the amount of fun is tremendous! Also if its in your budget just build on instead of buying one of the lot ... I know its tuff times but if you can spare the extra cash you will be a happy Mini motorist for years and years to come !! and green and black is dope in my opinion. enjoy your mini which everyone you choose!

I had an '06 for 5+ years and never noticed any noise, highway speeds or otherwise. Maybe I had the Harmon Kardon up enough to drown it out?
